Payments were to be made on a regular basis. 12 Jan 1892 Nancy Bradley (wife/mother) dies 8 Dec 1894 Ford Bradley is born in Ambia Indiana, son of Margaret and Dominic.

26 Dec 1894 Summons issued by the Court of Common Pleas, Logan County, Ohio, for Nancy Bradley, Michael Burke, and Ella Bradley to appear in court to answer charges of nonpayment of the loan. None of them answered the summons - evidently their whereabouts was unknown to the court.

21 May 1895 Attorney for Ella Bradley (Dominic’s insane sister) files a complaint saying that it was illegal to sell the property without notifying her. The judge agrees, recinds the sale and reopens the case.

(Comment: this was probably a legal move on the part of the Burkes to get the sale overturned. They were out of the state and weren’t notified either.

12 Jun 1895 Property again ordered sold - basically the same results as before.

15 Aug 1895 Mary Burke buys the land at auction for $3510.00. The court orders $2511.41 to be paid the plaintiff and his attorney. Ella Bradley gets $79.82. Mary Burke gets $559.64 and the property.

29 Feb 1896 Michael and Mary Burke sell the original property to Hugh N. Ginn. Burkes are living in Paxton, Illinois.

2 Mar 1900 Maggie and Dominic sell the small piece of property above to Joseph Esch. Bradleys are living in Hoopeston, Illinois at this time.

As you can see, James Bradley tried to buy up the property. However, Dominic and Joseph bought him out.

My guess is that Mary Burke bought Dominic’s share of the property on 14 Oct 1886. This is probably when they (Maggie, Dominic, Nora, Regina, and Frances) moved to Pittsburgh. Regina says on the tape that she remembers the three kids in Pittsburgh, but doesn’t mention Ralph. While in Pittsburgh, Dominic also sold a share to David Ford. Whether he actually owned the property is anyone’s guess.

I have not been able to find a record of David Ford ever selling the property. I would assume that Maggie and Dominic returned and bought the small parcel of property from Mary and Michael 28 Jun 1887. So they were probably in Pittsburgh from Oct ’86 to Jun ’87.

The loan on the property was made on 28 October 1891. Neither Dominic nor David Ford were mentioned as an owner, so I assume they had already sold out and owned only the small piece of property bought when he returned from Pittsburgh.

I cannot find any evidence that Dominic was cheated. If Mary had not paid him for the property, he could have moved back on to it when he returned from Pittsburgh. Instead, he bought a small piece of land from her. David Ford however could have been lost in the shuffle and never received a share if indeed, Dominic had a share to sell when he made the deal with David.
