May 5, 1998 Update: Katie is still fighting. A low white blood cell count has delayed her Chemotherapy treatments for the last 3 weeks. She doesn't think that is so bad because the treatments make her quite miserable but it is frustrating that now it will be late June before this bout of chemotherapy is finished. She is weak but her smile is still there.
Katie's computer has been dying a slow death since before Easter. She has not been able to view her page from home since before Easter. So we are frantically trying to revive the old thing or find a way to get her a new one. I am still printing out all the guestbook signatures and E-mails that you leave for her.
Her notebook has grown into 3 large binders and going into a 4th. She is so thrilled with all the cards and gifts that her cyber friends sent for her birthday. She is too weak to keep up with all the correspondence so please do not feel bad that you don't hear from her. She came over a couple of weeks ago to answer e-mail and was only able to answer a few before she was completely worn out. Please just know that she is so grateful for your concern, prayers and kindness. Her mother, Janet, would like you to know how grateful she is for all your generosity toward her daughter. She sends her blessings back.
Spring has brought 5 new colts to Katie's herd of miniature horses. She is very excited about that. Please take time to check out her miniature horses page.

May 11, 1998 Update: Katie is currently in the hospital. Her blood count finally went up high enough they were able to continue her Chemotherapy on Friday, May 8th. This is good and bad news. Chemotherapy makes Katie very ill and because chemotherapy is made to destroy any rapidly growing cells it is especially dangerous is young children because most of their cells are rapidly growing. This is the 3rd time that they have found Cancer in little Katie and the third time she has had to endure the grueling months of Chemotherapy so it has been especially hard on her. Katie only has 50% of her heart muscle left. The Chemotherapy has destroyed that much of it. I was very alarmed to hear this. What can we do? Just continue our prayers. Your prayers pulled her through the winter and I know they will get her through the rest of her Chemotherapy. thing we can do for Katie is replace her computer. I have set up a special account for raising funds to replace Katie's computer. I made the first donation of $25.00. What I am asking of all Katie's Cyber Friends is to send one dollar to Katie's account. If we all pull together we can get her a nice computer that she will not only be able to read your messages in her guest book but use for her schooling. Then one day when she is past all this she will be able to e-mail everyone and send her gratitude.
