Sgt. Lloyd Cunningham Killed in East Indies War Theatre
Sgt. Lloyd Cunningham, youngest son of D. P. Cunningham, lost his life November 7, ;while flying on a mission over Nigerias (sic) Island in the
Pacific. He was serving as radio gunner with the 72nd Bomber Squadron, in the 5th Bombidier (sic) Group in the East Indies. His father was
notified of Lloyd's death by the War Department Monday afternoon.
Lloyd was born on December 6, 1923 in Wilson and graduated from the Wilson High School in 1942, he enlisted in the army and has been
stationed at Chicago, Idaho, and before leaving the states for the East Indies was stationed at Muroc, Calif. He has three other brothers
serving their country, and one recently received an honorable discharge.
