HLI to Welcome
Thousands of Pro-Lifers to Toronto
Special to the Herald
Human Life International, based in Front Roya, Virginia, will welcome more than 2,000 pro-lifers from around the world for its 18th annual World Conference on Love, Life, and the Family in Toronto, Ontario April 7-11.
"The conference goal is to help educate pro-lifers to persevere in the battle for life, faith and family," said Father Paul Marx, O.S.B., HLI founder. "We're bringing in more than 60 experts who are saving millions of babies and souls everywhere. They'll discuss the major life and family issues of our time: abortion, bioethics, the "gay" agenda, contraception, euthanasia, population control, sex education, home schooling, Planned Parenthood, the demise of the family, and much more.
According to Father Richard Welch, C.S.S.R., president of HLI, the conference will enable pro-lifers to prepare for the third millennium and will include programs for youth, chastity teachers and deacons. A seminar for accredited medical professions and an eight-hour session on post-abortion syndrome are also scheduled.
HLI has 56 chapters in the U.S. and 89 branches throughout the world, which promote Catholic teachings through conferences, audio tapes and educational materials.
The main celebrant at the opening Mass at the conference will be Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus M. Pearse Lacey of Toronto.
Among the speakers scheduled for the conference are William Donahue of the Catholic League; Alice von Hildebrand, author and philosopher; Ann Sheridan, Georgetown Ignatian Society president and author; Austin Ruse, an expert on the United Nations; Brian Clowes, author and researcher; Joan Andrews-Bell, pro-life activist; Steven Mosher, China expert; Claude Newberry, South African public health expert; and Paul Byrne of the Catholic Medical Association.

A note from the Web Master:
It is noteworthy and honorable that some folks are willing to stand up for a ban on Partial-Birth Abortion. Let us not forget that ordinary everyday run of the mill abortion is also murder. We must understand that murder is murder no matter the method. Because one method of abortion seems to be horrible does not make the other methods less so. We should be horrified and sickened by any abortion regardless of the method. The Fifth Commandment spells it out clearly:
"Thou shalt not kill."
A fetus is a person, a human being with a God given soul. Imagine the pain the Lord must feel when any abortion occurs. Please contact both of your Senators and Representative, via letter or phone, to let them know how horrified you are that abortions are legal and to stop Partial-Birth abortions and all other abortions as soon as possible.
(It has become apparent that they do not respond to email therefore you will have more of an impact by writing or telephoning.)
