Pro-Life Nurses To Form Area Chapter

          Special to the Herald

The National Association of Pro-Life Nurses (NAPN) is forming a Northern Virginia chapter and is sponsoring a Day of Recollection for Nurses, for all active or retired RNs.  LPNs and student nurses, at St. Agnes Church in Arlington on April 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The non-profit NAPN was founded in 1978 for the education and legal protection of rights of nurses who refuse to participate in unethical medical procedures.  The organization also works with community leaders to develop programs which meet the needs of women facing crisis pregnancies.

Among the issues facing nurses today, besides abortion, the association says, are "fetal experimentation, euthanasia, patient ethical rights, scarce medical resources, compulsory sterilization, in vitro fertilization, cloning and organ transpllants and assisted suicide."

The NAPN also provides a legal fund which is used exclusively to submit amicus curiae briefs to courts in cases of abortion, infanticide, euthanasia and nurses' litigation.

For information about the Day of Recollection or the NAPN, call Bernadette Powers at 703/866-1588.

A note from the Web Master:

It is noteworthy and honorable that some folks are willing to stand up for a ban on Partial-Birth Abortion.  Let us not forget that ordinary everyday run of the mill abortion is also murder.  We must understand that aborting the life of a baby is murder no matter the method.  Because one method of abortion seems to be horrible does not make the other methods less so.  We should be horrified and sickened by any abortion regardless of the method.  The Fifth Commandment spells it out clearly:

          "Thou shalt not kill."

A fetus is a person, a human being with a God given soul.  Imagine the pain the Lord must feel when any abortion occurs.  Please contact both of your Senators and Representative, via letter or phone,  to let them know how horrified you are that abortions are legal and to stop, once and for all, Partial-Birth abortions and all other abortions as soon as possible.
