OK Chesterfield researchers, get
your checkbooks out. Jim Pigg has
again published two
volumes which you will certainly want in your library.
The 1790, 1800, 1810 Census book goes the extra mile by boldfacing the
names of individuals who appear in both the 1790
and 1800 Census.
This is helpful to researchers who may have a difficult time picking out
Chesterfield individuals in the 1790 Cheraw District Census.
Cheraw District was comprised of Chesterfield, Darlington, and Marlboro
Counties. Anyone who has ever
searched for an obituary in page after page of un-indexed newspapers will
recognize the value of Pigg’s second book.
Maiden names, parents’ names, the name of children and surviving spouse
leap from each page. This helpful
book serves as a window to the late 1800’s, a period in which many
genealogical researchers need a little extra help in light of the burned 1890
Census.
