 James (Jim) and Julie Pigg have enthusiastically accepted the challenges of Chesterfield County historical and genealogical research.  Last year they published the much acclaimed six-volume set of Chesterfield cemetery records.  They have quickly followed that success with two volumes on the census records of Chesterfield.  The wonderful thing about these two volumes is that there are no unpleasant surprises.  Many compilers of census or mortality schedules feel it necessary to omit some of the columns of information (for what reason this editor has never been able to comprehend).  Both of the above mentioned volumes are a true account of what is to be found in the original record, with the added benefit of no eyestrain.  The compliers have hinted at additional published Chesterfield records to follow.  By the time this review is published hopefully a book on Chesterfield Land Grants and a book on the obituaries published in Pageland newspapers 1910 – 1935 will also be available.  Serious Chesterfield researchers cannot afford to ignore these volumes.
