Dee area of South Carolina for any length of time soon
becomes aware of the Flowers
family. Members
of this family are scattered throughout Marion, Florence, and
Darlington Counties. Hewitt has gathered information on the various branches of
this
family and compiled a nice publication.
It is believed that the Pee Dee family of
Flowers descends from John Flowers (b.
1703, Isle of Wight Co., VA, d. ?, Edgecombe
Co., NC). A
member of the second Flowers generation, Henry Flowers (b. 1722/30 VA,
d. 1790/1794 SC),
moved to the Marion County area and was the father of eleven
children. His sons included Archibald, John, Henry, William, James,
Jacob, and
Bennett. 244
