   HOWLE TRAILS:  DESCENDANTS OF JAMES & ANN HOWLE, by Frank Miller Richey...In 
    recent years, Frank Richey has researched and produced many books in his “Trails”
    series.  The Howle family is the most recent Darlington family to receive this 
    treatment.  Richey states that James Howle was born 17 July 1734.  He has identified 
    one child of James and his wife Ann, James².  James² was born 1766 and died in 1846.
    He married Elizabeth Purvis.  Their children included:  James³ (1^st married Margaret 
    Ann Keith, 2^nd married Mary Ann Kirven, and 3^rd married Penelope Parrott McNeese);
    John Alexander Howle (married Mariah Adams); and Francis Howle (married 1^st Esther
    Davis and married 2^nd Margaret Jane Sparrow).  The children of this generation had
    connections to the following families:  Parnell, Kirven, Turnage, King, Garner, McNeese,
    Gainey, McLeod, Jordan, Tedder, Byrd, Chapman, Rhodes, Griggs, Barefoot, Hogg,
