    born about 1790 in Virginia and died 20 May 1856 in Darlington District, SC.  The name
    of his wife remains unknown.  The children of Byrd Jordan include:  James Jordan,
    Hannah Jordan, Sarah Jordan, Orin D. Jordan, Shepherd Jordan, Elizabeth Jordan,
    Napoleon B. Jordan, Edith Ann Jordan, and Bright Jordan.  These children married into
    many local families including:  Bacot, Culpepper, Gardner, Hewitt, Hodge, Wilson, and
