Something Better
by Barbara Philbrook

When I accepted Jesus as my savior I didn't get wealth beyond measure,
no I got assurance that I am saved a far more perfect treasure.

I received an indwelling teacher a renovator and a guide,
I received a helper a translator and a monitor for my pride.

I was not made into a beauty for the world to behold,
but my hopes for the future are more beautiful than ever can be told.

My singing voice is still one that can hurt even the untrained ear,
but the singing that goes on within my heart assures me that God is near.

My stature would not attract even the smallest modeling agency,
but the renovations taking place within are there for my Lord to see.

I have no sense of rhythm and can not keep a beat,
but there is no temptation that will come my way that the Lord and I can't defeat.

I'll never be in the movies or become a TV star,
but the things that God has in store for me are more significant by far.

The treasures that can be had in this world may be important to some you see,
but my Heavenly Father offers something better to me.

What you see here may seem attractive to you,
but ask Him into your heart and something better is what will be given to you.

God created this world and all that is in it  then He created man,
and you can have your earthly riches or you can take part in his salvation plan.

Yes I do have something better and so dear friend can you,
the choice is yours to make and I am praying that is what you will do.
