Fires Are Burning
by Barbara Philbrook

Fires are burning the fireman are doing all that they can,
there is not much hope that they will be stopped by man.

Thousands of acres have been destroyed and the damage has been taking it's toll,
there are families who have lost everything the fires got out of control.

There is danger brewing for the aged and those with lung disease,
and there are the firemen who could use some rest they are about to fall on their knees.

People with hoses on roof tops trying to wet their house,
others with hoses spraying their lawns to give it an extra douse.

There is danger on the highways due to the real thick swirling smoke,
there are times the roads have to be closed this is definitely not a joke.

People's pets are scampering from here and there,
those who are the luckiest have slightly burned paws or just a little singed hair.

The fires Lord have gotten out of control we'd like it if you would intervene,
we'd really appreciate a good soaking You know  exactly what I mean!

The hospitals have had people coming in because their lungs are under duress,
and there are people needing comfort due to excess stress.

Please Lord can you open the skies and allow the rain to pour,
our firemen are so weary I'm not sure they can take much more.

I know we don't deserve even the slightest consideration from you,
but Lord we need help and there is no one who loves us the way that you do.

You tell us we will not be tested beyond what we can bear,
thank you Lord for showing us how very much you care.

Thank you for your promises and for the faith you give so that we can believe in you,
Thank You for the ways you show us that you love us as much as you do.

Thank you for the relief that I believe that you are about to send our way,
thank you for the privilege of allowing us to come to you when we pray.

Thank You for the faith that allows me to have perfect trust in you,
thank you for the joy of knowing that we are all loved so much by you.
