What the Cross Means to Me
by Barbara Philbrook

The cross is not to be worshiped no that is not what it means to me,
the cross is instead a visual reminder of what our savior did and that as a result of it we are offered salvation for free.

The cross was not responsible for what was done to our Savior,
no the responsibility for that was the sin in man and his consequential behavior.

The choosen people of God those who he'd intended to receive his Son and
fulfill the prophecies of old, they had become so caught up in the laws and ceremonies that when they beheld the Savior their hearts were stone cold.

God even prepared the way he sent John The Baptist to give them all a clue,
but they did not recognise that a Savior was right there for all to view.

There were followers everywhere that Jesus went,
so teaching and preaching is what he did this was the reason he was sent.

For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son,
that whosoever believeth in him have everlasting life"  Praise God I am one.

No the cross is not an idol that's not what it means to me,
but without a doubt I know that if it weren't for that cross that eternity I'd never see.

The thought of what Jesus went through just to save you and me,
it's breathtaking and it's a fact that I seek for all mankind to comprehend you  see.

Now the mistake that was made even while Jesus was on this earth,
is that people think that they must change themselves to be of  salvation's worth.

No No we must believe to receive the salvation Jesus offers to us,
then daily we must surrender our all and then the Holy Spirit does the changing without any fuss.

The cross was used to cause agonizing suffering and pain,
but praise God it was not a wasted sacrifice it opened the way for us to go home with Jesus when He comes again.

Being a parent and knowing how I feel when I see any of my children suffering and in pain,
it makes what our Heavenly Farther did for us something I want to share so loudly I wish to proclaim.

God has in his heart a love for us all that's why the Plan Of Salvation was made,
the mansions are being made ready and the price for our admittance has already been paid.

Won't you accept what has been so lovingly offered to you,
just believe to receive God is waiting to hear from each of you.

Won't you make what happened on the cross so long ago,
the focus of your life here after and tell everyone you meet as through this life you go.
