Each New Day
by Barbara Philbrook

Each new day I find it easier to awake,
since the gift of salvation I was willing to take.

Oh how amazed I am to remember the pain,
while I strove for perfection in my life to attain.

I mistakenly thought I had to improve on my own,
until the truths in your word I was so lovingly shown.

One can not change what they are on the inside,
that is a mistake in which many of us abide.

We are to accept salvation, the changing is done by You,
I thank you Father that this is true.

Submission is all that you required of me,
then a new creature I began to be.

Acceptance of the truth was the sprouting of the seed,
now with the nurturing, you daily proceed.

Some days there is just tender loving care,
on others you prune what should not be there.

Each new day is an experience since I've come to know you,
I awake wondering what new thing you will do.
