Free to be Me
by Barbara Philbrook

I am now free to be me what exactly does that mean,
I'm free to be me "But Me is someone I've never seen.

When I was a child I lived in someone else's home,
the ability to make choices was not a freedom I was shown.

When I left home it was to marry for the rest of my life,
and in this home he made the decisions not anyone else not even his wife.

Favorite Color? Do I have one I honestly do not know,
I've always chosen what ever would please others ever since I began to grow.

Style of furniture what ever pleased whomever else was around,
if I didn't like it I would not dare utter a sound.

Music I've always listened to whatever everyone else liked the most,
I didn't make the choice even when I was playing the host.

Free to be me Lord I really need your help here,
free to be me that thought is filling me with fear.

I don't know how to be me Lord I don't know who I am,
but you knew me before I was born before this world even began.

Introduce me to me Lord the me way deep inside,
open me up that I may see Lord don't let me continue to hide.

Do I have a favorite food I have only prepared what I was told,
teach me what I am Lord and could you make me a little bit bold?

Show me all of my hidden desires and the types of things I can do,
teach me my strengths and talents Lord so that I may diligently serve you.
