God Gave Me Hope
by Barbara Philbrook

God gave me hope during adversity,
times when Satan was making attacks on me.

God gave me hope and pulled me through,
and He wants to do the very same for you.

I was filled with feelings of self doubt and fear,
yet God brought into my life my husband so dear.

A husband standing by in sickness and health,
even though my bills cut down on his wealth

Cut down by a stroke at twenty three,
hopeful due to my husband's " I'm here and I'll always be".

I was blessed too with four babies whom I adore.
Having their love gave me hope once more.

Children to brighten each phase of my life,
no matter how distressing the trials and strife.

Hope while seeking God's eternal truth,
by the nurturing of seeds that were planted in my youth.

Seeds planted by a dad loving God deep in his heart,
who I missed dearly when his death tore us apart.

Hope during a cancer diagnosis for my mate,
as two of my daughters were trying to hurry their fate.

Each of them survived and my faith has grown,
I know within my heart God takes care of His own.

Hope while driving to another state,
when a phone call informed me 'Mama's gone, it's too late'.

Now living so close to absolute poverty,
where meeting the bills often seemed an impossibility.

God gave me hope when we couldn't afford our pills.
Giving us enough for them plus food and bills.

There may not be luxuries available to me,
but the hope I have sufficiently sustains us you see.

God gave me hope and you can have the very same.
Just call out to Him in Jesus' name.

Sing praises during the pain of adversity.
That's what God revealed He wanted from me.

Praise when there was nothing to sing about.
I lifted my voice and let my love for Him out.

God gave me hope and yours is just a call away.
Call out to God and start being blessed by it today.
