Goodbye My
Child
by
Barbara Philbrook
Good-bye my
child, you went home to be with God today,
and it hurts in the most awful way.
Your life was
far too short for me,
your passing causes such agony.
My eyes are
tearful and sore,
because of the thought we're not together anymore.
No more sharing
of the things we loved best,
no more by your smile will I be blessed.
I could dwell
daily on this painful part,
but oh the agony that would bring to my heart.
Instead I am
going to envision you,
doing all of the things that you love to.
Doing them with
God joyfully,
while you pass the time there waiting for me.
Walking on the
streets of gold,
listening raptly to the tales the prophets unfold.
Learning more of
God's great glory,
seeing for yourself the unfolding story.
Experiencing for
yourself all things new,
as God unfolds His mysteries for you.
Then when my
time too has come,
you'll meet me at the gates of God's Kingdom.
Good-bye my
child I'll weep no more,
you are safely in the arms of the Lord you adore.
