Help Me To Remember
by Barbara Philbrook

Lord it is an answer to prayer to be serving you,
and I am ever aware that without you it's something I could not do.

I got down and prayed and I sent forth my plea,
I begged and implored that you find a use for me.

You lovingly listened and heard each word,
and then the most amazing thing occurred.

Poetry poured into a head never before able to think of a rhyme,
once they begin they are finished in record time.

For over two years this blessing has been flowing out,
that they are a gift from You there is no doubt.

People are impressed and in gratitude thank me,
I tell them quickly all glory must go to thee.

It is pleasant to receive the thanks and hear the praise,
but I pray you will help me to remember for all of my days.

God I am but the means you use to write this poetry,
all of the credit for their beauty goes to thee.

Credit for any good thing that comes out of the words read,
is not due me but goes to you instead.

Help me to remember you are the Potter, I am but clay,
You made the vessel which pours out the words today.

Help me remember that I was once lost in sin,
now you allow me to invite other's their new life to begin.

Help me to remember and never forget,
there is much more work to be done as yet.
