What He Took
by Barbara Philbrook

Our Heavenly Father took a life that was shallow and filled with sin,
He's moved the Holy Spirit into my heart an a new nature in me He did begin.

He took my inclination to feel spurned, unloved and rejected,
He opened up section's of my  heart that needed to be bisected and inspected.

He took a child who's body had grown to it's full potential,
but who's mind hadn't perceived enough to learn all that was essential.

He took someone who had been violated as a child who was looking to adults for love,
and refocused her eyes so they saw what was offered freely from above.

He took one who had never known what it was to be accepted no matter how hard she tried,
and showed her that it was for her and others like her that Jesus came here and died.

He took someone who tried every day  to earn love by doing everything right,
and made her see that she was loved just as she was causing her so much delight.

He took the pain and hurt that had been with her from her life's beginning,
and showed her that so much pain was brought into this world not due to her but through sinning.

He took the feelings that such pain and hurt were her lot in life,
and taught her that our character is formed as we go through these kinds of strife.

He took an individual who had spent far too much time dwelling on incidents and pain from the past, and now that life is spent trying to serve her loving God at last.

He interpreted the scriptures so I'd see the truth of salvation and learn about His Holy Kingdom,
then He showed me how I could serve Him by extending to all a hearty "Welcome"!
