I Closed My
Eyes
by
Barbara Philbrook
I closed my
eyes, I fell asleep.
I dreamt a dream that was so neat.
I saw a place as
bright as snow,
and into it's brilliance I had to go.
I felt a warmth
beyond compare,
I know my Savior was very near.
I felt no pain
sorrow or fright,
my whole being felt pure delight.
I've no claim to
Heaven I went,
I know only 'twas the best time I've ever spent.
I know too if
they said I'd die tomorrow,
I'd feel no dread, fear or sorrow.
I know there is
a place of quiet rest.
I've experienced it myself and feel so blessed.
I heard no sound
and no one was in sight.
I just know it felt so very right.
A calm purer
that I've ever known.
I know in my heart I am God's very own.
I'll live each
day as well as I can,
extending invitations to my fellow man.
Telling them of
the salvation story,
and how Jesus reigns in glory.
Asking them to
also make the choice,
to accept Jesus with their own voice.
To secure their
own reservation today,
by bowing their heads as they pray.
I closed my eyes
and was given just a taste,
and now not one moment do I want to waste.
