If I Hurt So
by Barbara Philbrook

If I hurt so because of not seeing those I love,
can you imagine the pain suffered by God above?

Our Father who so lovingly pours out His grace,
has doubt, disobedience and outright rejection to face.

He listens patiently with fine tuned ears,
in many cases for many many years.

He beckons so lovingly to each and every child,
and is so often met with accusations and denial.

He provides for us in so very many ways,
as we stumble through life so often in a daze.

Having made and carried out His part in the salvation plan,
giving His Son to save sinful man.

If I hurt just because my loved ones and I are apart,
imagine His pain when His children harden their heart.

Imagine being rejected and treated so bad,
when I try to contemplate it I feel so sad.

God created us and set the price of sin,
then gave up His Son so we could invite Him in.

I can't even begin to imagine what He must feel,
I can only determine to tell of His love with more zeal.

If I hurt so and I am such an sinful soul,
imagine what God feels when He's met by hearts so cold.
