What Could Be Instead
by Barbara Philbrook

What could be instead,
all those I love could be ill or dead.

Instead of a trailer which  is difficult to keep neat,
I could be living in the street.

Instead of laundry waiting to be done,
my outfits to wear could number just one.

Instead of dishes needing to be washed,
I could be hungry or starving by gosh.

Instead of complaining about my car,
I should be grateful I don't have to walk very far.

Instead of bickering over who's right,
I should be counting my Blessings to God's delight.

Instead of dreading how things may turn out,
I should be praising God with a shout.

Instead of my face wearing a frown,
I should lift my hands in praise as I dance around.

Instead of giving into worry or fear,
I'll praise our God for always being near.

Instead of a life of negativity,
I pray others will see a reflection of Jesus in me.
