I Refuse
by Barbara Philbrook

I refuse to be discouraged no matter what goes wrong.
I intend to praise God with a jubilant song.

Nothing that can happen is going to get me down,
because I know my God can turn it around.

God turns all things to good for those called by Him,
so I refuse to fret. I'll not give in.

I refuse to have even one negative thought.
I'll count my blessings as I've been taught.

My spirits are lifted by the songs I sing,
as within my heart, gratitude and thankfulness ring.

My Father did not give me a spirit of fear,
but the wonderful assurance He is always near.

I refuse to give in and you can too,
just sing God's praises and exuberance will flow from you.
