I Shed A
Tear
by
Barbara Philbrook
I shed a
tear over the pain you felt.
I asked God to comfort you as in prayer I knelt.
How could
this have occurred I ask.
Is it something from the killer's past?
Did they
go through things too horrible to bear?
Where were their loved ones? Wasn't anyone there?
Are these
actions caused from scars they once received?
Did they ask for help? Were they even believed?
Are there
things we could or should do?
Could we perhaps have changed their defeated view?
Are we
caring enough about suffering others feel.
Do we even recognize that their pain is real?
Are we to
blame because no one could see?
What they were going through internally?
Have we
wandered off of the beaten path?
Are our citizens now overcome by wrath?
Are we
still the caring nation we strove to be,
when we began with our beliefs of liberty?
Are we not
our brother's keeper still,
being there for them when their road is all uphill?
Shouldn't
we be pointing them to our Father above,
and telling them of His unconditional love?
I shed a
tear this time after the fact.
Lord please help me to help those suffering before
they react.
