It's My Choice
by Barbara

It's my choice if I'll be happy
or sad today,
I can decide to have it go either way.
The way I choose to look on my
circumstances,
are what decides if my happiness it enhances.
Feeling sad is not something I
enjoy,
so any thoughts that reverse those feelings I'll employ.
I take whatever is making me
sad,
and reconstruct it in my mind till I start to feel glad.
I paint it into a picture that
makes me smile,
and when the sad tries to come back it meets with denial.
I refuse to think on things
that deplete my joy,
and whatever tools I've got I will employ.
I use old memories and my
imagination,
and think on things that brighten the situation.
I picture things that are
pleasant to me,
that way I can cope with life more easily.
It's my choice and God would
rather I not be sad,
so I turn into good what negative thoughts I had.
