Jesus Wept
by Barbara Philbrook

Jesus wept! Yes He actually cried,
upon hearing that His friend Lazarus had died.

Well my friends I have news for you,
He cries when people reject salvation too.

Imagine for a moment if you can,
what He gave up for the sake of each sin filled man.

He left His Father at the throne,
coming to this world where sin and degradation was known.

Came right here to this place called Earth,
to save all sinners each having no worth.

Born in a stable then shuffled about,
so that each of us would have a way out.

Lived a humble life absolutely free of sin,
yet aware each of us would not welcome Him in.

He was ridiculed taunted and rejected,
cruelly beaten despised and so disrespected.

He was tortured by those He came to save,
horribly crucified and buried in a borrowed grave.

All of this was willingly done,
by God The Father's own beloved Son.

We are each beckoned and allowed to see,
just what He went through for you and me.

Our eyes are opened we're allowed to understand,
that awesome phenomenon called the Salvation Plan.

Then we get to make our own choice,
to accept or reject with our own voice.

Yes Jesus wept but He needn't weep anymore,
if we'd each just believe and open our heart's door.
