Something to Learn
by Barbara Philbrook

Heavenly Father I know that there is a lesson in every occurrence for me,
please won't You open my eyes and help me to see.

Won't you clear my head of all the debris and clutter,
so I seek refuge in You, not another.

Could you open my ears so they are sensitive to Your still small voice,
and give me the strength needed to make the right choice.

I'm not asking You to take my cross away,
I'm only asking that I bear it in a "Glory to God" kind of way.

I'm not requesting the load be made any lighter,
only that my countenance would to others appear brighter.

I'm not complaining about the path I must take,
only asking Your help that I make no mistake.

Everything that happens contains a lesson I must learn,
I'm asking You Father, give me the gift to discern.

May the lessons meant for me to grow,
be so well learned that others too Your love will know.

Thank You Father for taking the time to teach me,
may all that I learn bring Honor and Glory to Thee.
