Love Needs
by Barbara Philbrook

Love needs to be expressed or it will never grow,
and those you love may never know.

By expression our love for others is shown,
and each person receives their own.

As our sincere love expands to another,
some lost soul may become a brother.

Love is the means by which we show we care,
love is the barometer that keeps us fair.

Love gives us the uncanny ability,
to always do for others as I would have them do for me.

Love and it's greatest reward,
are what we receive from from Jesus our Lord.

Without the Father who loves us from above,
we would be incapable of knowing true love.

Love is not measured by the beat of your heart,
it is instead the ache felt when two are apart.

It is not the fluttering experienced at a baby's birth,
it is recognizing the depth of another's worth.

It is not the joy of receiving a gift,
it is instead the experience of giving another's spirits a lift.

It is reaching out an unsolicited hand,
to help someone sinking in mud while something else was planned.

It is putting another's needs before my own,
which is exactly the example we were shown.

Love is is one of the means you see,
that measures the kind of person we happen to be.

Love needs to be given without reservation,
before it can cause another to feel it's elation.
