Praise in the Midst of Pain
by Barbara Philbrook

Praise in the midst of pain, agonizing pain,
in spite of what I feel, I offer praise once again.

Praise when things hurt and are going wrong,
that is when I raise my voice loudest in song.

Praise while tears fall sadly from my eyes,
I give praise to God as I raise my hands to the skies.

Praise, honor and glory are what I have to give,
and I shall offer them to God as long as I live.

I give praise not for what I am going through,
but in spite of it and that is what I will always do.

Giving praise when all is going just right,
would be easy and not give God any particular delight.

But when things hurt within and are tearing me apart,
and still I offer praises, it warms God's heart.

Father I thank you in spite of what life has been,
and if you need me to I'll do it all again.

Praising Him in the midst of pain and agony alike,
soon we will be home living in absolute delight.

Praising Him then will be my daily endeavor,
I shall joyfully praise God forever and ever.
