Prayer
by Barbara Philbrook

Prayer is an intimate conversation between God and me,
one where we both can participate you see.

It is not me just reading off all of my hearts desires,
giving a list of the things I saw in this weeks flyers.

It is not me complaining about all of my inconvenient trials,
nor is it God handing out a list of denials.

It is not just me repenting of sin that I committed today,
nor is it me just asking my ailments be taken away.

Prayer is a conversation between two,
the Heavenly Father and His created, You.

Prayer is telling what you feel in your heart,
it is in the telling that it's truths you impart.

When you speak it with your lips it becomes known then to you,
you know that you know what you feel to be true.

It's not just an idea or a thought in your head,
you know it's depth of emotion once the words have been said.

It is for our understanding that God has us kneel before him,
He already knows our hearts and what is within.

So deep is His love He wants us to be aware,
and our every emotion to be able to share.

My greatest moments are those spent in prayer,
they are the times that God and I intimately share.
