Prayer Requests
by Barbara Philbrook

I sit at my computer and get my mail,
there sits prayer requests without fail.

People seeking agreement in prayer from another.
God instructs us to pray for our brother.

People who are sick and suffering pain,
some with people missing never to be seen again.

People who fear what lies ahead.
People who must have surgery they greatly dread.

People seeking intervention in prayer,
because they believe God really does care.

We are told where two on earth agree,
that an answer to their request we will see.

It's written clearly in Matthew 18:19,
for any one who wants to see what I mean.

This is a promise made by Jesus to you and me,
telling us we'll receive that for which two agree.

When my eyes are on Jesus I remember this with elation,
but if I let my eyes wander I suffer frustration.

I read the list of prayer seeking requests,
and if my eyes aren't on Jesus I get depressed.

But then the promise comes back into my mind,
and I am confident once again I find.

Prayer requests, a way in which to serve,
and the rewards of sharing in it are more than we deserve.
