Retribution and Retaliation
by Barbara Philbrook

Retribution and retaliation,
they can take away much from a relation.

The definition of these it's thought,
could teach a cruel person to act as they ought.

But actually just the opposite is true,
they would respond better to kindness from you.

They are not simple I think you'll find,
they expect you to react in kind.

It's when you react in a loving way,
they will be astonished and say..

"Wait a minute I was so cruel and mean,
what exactly is this kindness I've seen?"

If you really want to honor God,
you must walk in kindness where nastiness was trod.

We must remember to set an example,
and we know our God's grace is more than ample.

Let's determine to reciprocate good for bad,
let's try to make them happy not sad.

Let's let God's love flow freely today,
and treat everyone with a loving display.

Retribution and retaliation can serve another,
as for me I'll love each man as a brother.
