Sorrow For A Friend
by Barbara Philbrook

Sorrow for a friend is my mantle for today,
and that you will bring her peace is what I pray.

Within I am calm and comforted by your Spirit,
and I request that You speak and that she hear it.

I want her to know of my heartfelt sorrow,
but also that I look towards Heaven's tomorrow.

I want to be a loving strong comfort for my friend,
one who will be with her through to the end.

I want to listen when she feels she has to talk,
and if she stumbles I want to help her walk.

I want to provide when she has a need,
and when ready to go on help her to proceed.

Father I want to be all that a true friend is supposed to be,
but it is only possible if You guide me.

Please don't allow me to do anything wrong,
in my earnest desire to help her to grow strong.

Please don't allow me to interfere,
when it is You that she should be drawing near.

I need You Father so I may be,
a caring friend to my friend who means so much to me.
