Stumbling Blocks
by Barbara Philbrook

Lord there are stumbling-blocks in my way,
that You will make them stepping stones is what I pray.

Stumbling-blocks can only cause harm to me,
if I have not surrendered wholly to Thee.

What Satan meant to use in a detrimental way,
can be used  to bring me closer to You today.

To give me hope where he meant to cause doubt,
to let me know You will never shut me out.

To build my strength where he meant to make me weak,
to remind me that knowledge is given to all who seek.

To lighten the load no matter how burdened I be,
to remind me I can always count on Thee.

To give light where he drew the shade,
reminding me it was by You  this world was made.

To heal any malady he sends my way,
reminding me even sickness Your voice must obey.

Use these stepping stones Father to bring me closer to You,
that You may be honored by all that I do.
