Temptations
by Barbara Philbrook

Temptations come into our life every day,
it is up to each of us to turn them way.

Everyone is tempted the Bible tells us this is true,
even Jesus was tempted just like me and you.

If we stay in touch with the Heavenly Father,
resisting is easier instead of harder.

God promises to give us a way out,
if our relationship with Him is reasonably devout.

No man shall be tempted beyond what he can bear,
look in your Bible you will find it there.

"Raise up your children in the way they should go,
and they will not depart" God wants us to know.

Children are gifts only lent to you and me,
they are not our possession or commodity.

We must allow them to learn by each mistake,
and trust that  it'll be good decisions they make.

Just as God allows you and I to make choices on our own,
it's time to let your child use what he's been shown.

Be there if He needs guidance or a hug of affection,
let him know you love him even though he's not perfection.

These are the things God does for you and me,
and it's brought us both toward our destiny.

There's the temptation of holding on too long,
but it's by the fledgling learning to fly that his wings grow strong.
