Unfulfilled Debt
by Barbara Philbrook

Borrowed finances or things from a friend,
may be returned and then the debt will come to an end.

But one dies forever in debt,
to those who are simply kind to all they've met.

Has someone been simply kind to you,
not even realizing the good they did in your view?

Has someone brightened a gloomy day,
simply by their smile chasing your blues away?

Has someone lifted your spirits today,
just by an encouraging word they happened to say?

Has life been given a more positive look,
by a friend giving you an uplifting book?

Has your self esteem been brought to a new high,
just by a glance given as you walked by?

There are people who make other's lives better in some way,
just by being or the things they say.

Some people simply walk into a room,
and their smile pushes away all of life's gloom.

Some people bring joy into others life,
simply by listening to their tales of strife.

Then there are those who unaware say the just the right thing,
instantly causing the world to sing.

These would be unfulfilled debt if we neglected to pass them on.
We too can have the same effect if it's Jesus we lean upon.
