Wait Not
by Barbara Philbrook

Wait not to tell your loved ones how you feel,
to let them know how much you care and that your love is real.

Once they're gone their ears will be deaf,
so put to good use the precious time that you have left.

Have they done things of which you are very proud,
well stand up my friend tell them clear and loud.

Is there a joy they've planted deep within your heart,
take the time to tell them now before one of you depart.

So many times we put off saying things we later wish we could,
like telling children we appreciate their being so good.

Like giving credit to someone for trying hard to please,
they never hear us thanking God while we are on our knees.

So take a moment to tell those you appreciate what they mean to you,
then if something happens it won't be something you will rue.

Wait not to show them each what's within your heart,
then there will be no regrets if your suddenly torn apart.
