There Was A Time
by Barbara Philbrook

There was a time when anger would be,
nibbling away inside of me.

When others caused me any pain,
I thought for hours on their refrain.

That I was so evil is really sad,
but my reactions to pain were extremely bad.

I would spend many and hour,
on thoughts that were sadistic and sour.

But then I received an awesome gift,
God opened my eyes and gave my spirits a lift.

He told how Jesus died so I could live,
and showed me what He was offering to give.

He explained He did this while I was in sin,
and not till I surrendered could any changes begin.

The changes wouldn't be done by me,
no they were done by the Spirit living internally.

Accepting and surrendering are the parts I play,
and still the changing goes on day by day.

Now due to Him I strive to serve,
reaching out to the others who do not deserve.

Deserve to live forever in His love,
in the mansions He's built for us above.

There was a time but it is now in the past,
for I am saved by Him at last.
