The Waters Are Rising
by Barbara Philbrook

The waters are rising, they are getting deeper every day.
Now we have a new storm on the way.

Places where there never was any flooding before,
now have the waters coming in under the door.

People are flustered they aren't sure what to do.
The chances of it going away are few.

The forecasters are preparing us so well.
Now they have even more bad news to tell.

The winds are getting faster as they speak.
There may be tornados which can make homes leak.

The towns are offering sand bags to hold back the water,
but they don't help much according to my daughter.

Some of our neighbors are walking in water up to their knees.
That our home will remain dry I ask You please.

Worrying and fretting are what lots of people are starting to do,
but Heavenly Father I am trusting inYou.

I have not been given a spirit of fear.
I choose instead to trust that You are near.

That no matter what happens, no matter what appears to be,
that You Dear Father are taking care of me.

All things work to the good for those called by You,
and so I look forward to the good You will do.

Thank You Father for all of the faith with which I've been blessed,
and thank You for this sense of peacefulness.
