We Learn
by Barbara Philbrook

We learn from every acquaintance we've ever had,
that includes the good as well as the bad.

Some friendships end leaving us wishing for so much more,
others we can't wait to pass through the exit door.

But we learn from every acquaintance, be they enemy or friend,
even trials through which we were allowed to transcend.

So ask to be given eyes that can see,
the lesson that in each acquaintance was allowed to be.

Join me as I pray: "Give me the power to discern,
may I remember that which You want me to learn.

We learn a lesson every day of our life,
whether we are experiencing joy or strife.

Let me reap that which You lovingly sow,
then nurture me daily that I may grow.

Make me an instrument useful to You,
then lead me to whatever You want to do.

Teach me to be willing and ever alert,
and give me the power to never revert.

That I learn something each day is true,
then please use me to teach others that they are loved by You."
