What I Feel
by Barbara Philbrook

I cannot rely on what  appears to be or what I feel,
you see Satan can cause us to have feelings that aren't real.

When your feelings barometer is registering way down low,
that's when we must go by faith and our countenance should glow.

This is a time when we rely on faith and not on what we feel,
this is when our belief in God is what shows that his love is real.

God never promised that our walk with him would be all fun,
his promise was that he'd never cease the good work in us once he'd begun.

God never said our walk together would be like a childhood story,
no he said that when the time was right we'd all live with him in Glory.

It's easy to walk around with a smile on our face,
when there are no trials and no temptations taking place.

It's no bother to tell others of Jesus and what he did for us,
as long as life is going along smoothly no problems and no fuss.

The real test comes when there is no proof in front of us on a particular day,
when we haven't especially felt God's loving touch in any way.

When though we've prayed and surrendered to God as we started this day,
when if he took the time to talk to us we didn't hear what he had to say.

This is when the real test of our faith comes to the light,
but like every gift God has provided for us our faith will bring us through all right.

So if you woke up and despite your surrender to God you feel a bit down,
just start counting your blessings and you'll be wearing a smile in place of a frown.
