Willing To Suffer
by Barbara Philbrook

Willing to suffer no matter the cost,
Jesus willingly allowed Himself to be hung on the cross.

The price of sin is death so the Bible does say,
that is the price we'd all have to pay.

Each sinner was to pay for his sins alone,
unless a sacrifice could be made to atone.

The sacrifice would have to be made by one guilt free,
one willing to die for you and me.

This is where Jesus' love came in,
a love so great He was willing to die for our sin.

Willing to leave the Father and the Holy throne,
to come here and suffer and die alone.

Knowing He'd be tested and rejected,
and to such a horrible death be subjected.

Still His love was so strong He came any way,
just so our sinful debts He could pay.

This was done so you and I could live.
What greater love could any one give.

Willing to suffer and go through such persecution,
just to spare us from our just retribution.

Will you allow it to have been for naught,
or will you accept it as you ought?
