To The Heartland Farm Help Page,
"How to Move In"

The Farm Community Leaders have decided to set up a page that will help all of the Farm Homsteaders. The purpose of this page is to let the Homesteaders know how to move in.

The very first thing you want to know, and this is VERY IMPORTANT:

To MOVE IN, you must EDIT or REPLACE the file named "index.html"

The next thing you need to know is this:

Your START PAGE must be named "index.html"

That said, let's continue. What I mean by start page, is the page that you want people to see first, when they visit your site.

Let's say you have three pages on your site; a welcome page, a bio page and a pictures page. Each of these pages will have a file name, followed by a .html extension.

If these pages were named accordingly, the file names would be;

welcome.html

bio.html

pictures.html

Now, let's say that your URL (web site address) is Heartland/Farm/3161 (we'll leave out the www etc...for this exercise), to get to the welcome page, you would have to type in Heartland/Farm/3161/welcome.html

Now, if your welcome page had the file name "index.html" all you would have to type would be, Heartland/Farm/3161

Confused yet? good, because I was too, at first. Let's recap;

1. To move in, you must edit or replace the file named "index.html"

2. Your start page must be named "index.html"

3. You MUST have a file named "index.html"

Ok, we're ready for the next step. What's that you say? You already have a file called "index.html" in your file manager? That's OK, Yahoo/Geocities is nice enough to supply you with one. This is a standard page (they all look the same) that basically says "Hi, my name is your member name here, and I signed up on the date you signed up. I have not moved in yet. My interests are: your interests here. Please check back later.

To move in, you must edit or replace this file. It's that simple.

Now that you know how to move in, the only thing left is to use your imagination!
