CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

Our planning time prior to a new school year is the most critical component in establishing expectations, atmosphere, and a tone in your classroom.  When this link is weak, all of the curriculum materials, instructional delivery, and learning activities are rendered useless.  There are several components that should be addressed before students arrive on the first day.  As Carol Avery states in her book And with a Light Touch, "the classroom tone is set during the first days and weeks of school and the climate of the classroom is a critical element children's learning." (p.31).
