Gingerbread Man Classroom
First Grade
Ms. Froehlich
The pictures are examples of some of the activities
our class made during our
"Gingerbread Man"
theme.
Gingerbread
Ornament

This ornament is made from brown construction paper,
cotton
balls, and cloves. Run the pattern on brown construction
paper. Each
student needs two patterns. Glue around the outside edges of the
gingerbread man form after the students cut out the pattern. Leave
one end open. Decorate with glitter and other ornamentation.
Glue
needs to dry. Stuff the paper man with cotton balls. Add cloves or
other holiday spices. Glue the opening. Put ribbon though a hole
punched at the top. Hang around the room. Smells yummy!
Gingerbread Charts and Songs

I own many pocket charts and
stands. All of my charts and songs are
kept on large rings. This makes them easy to store and retrieve when
needed. Students sing, chant, read, and practice literacy skills from
each thematic chart.
Gingerbread Man Books

Our class has several versions of
the Gingerbread Man. One of
our favorites is the Cajun Gingerbread Boy. Shared reading, a
flannel
board for storytelling and retelling, as well as our beloved Jan Brett
are a few of the text versions we read and enjoy. A complete listing
of the books for the unit can be found in the Gingerbread Man Book
section in the main menu.
We Love Jan Brett - Parent Night

Students decorated the hall mural with their
favorite
characters, events from the Jan Brett's books. The books on the
stand are student made big books, rewritten and illustrated either
individually or in groups.
