Y2K, BRING IT ON
(you don't scare me none)

They call it Y2K, means year two thousand will come soon
They run around with fear on faces filled with such gloom
I just laugh and can't figure out why there's so much fear
It will just be the beginning of another boring new year
OK there's a chance that the lights might not work
But that is fine, I was never one of the ones to shirk
Cause when it came to living the long ago simple life
It's right down my ally, when there was not much strife
I am so prepared for this thing called the Y2K
That I actually look forward to the new day
To watch all the nuts running from pillar to post
Wonder which problem, I will like enjoying most
Will it be when the power actually shuts down
I have a generator and I'll handle it I'll be bound
How about the water when it finally slows to a drip
And I got a well for whenever I want to wet my lip
I have a green tractor filled with plenty of fuel
I guess I don't have to count on that old mule
I'll plant me a nice garden with good things to eat
Then I'll just sit on the porch and put up my feet
At night I have oil lamps which will give me light
It's amazing how those lamps can make it so bright
To sit with a book that I have been wanting read
But television has been there to put off the need
Simple things have been shuffled off to the side
I do not say these things with very much pride
To work on a puzzle with my children at night
With a fire in the stove what a wonderful sight
When I was a small child I had nothing I do now
Times sure have changed and oh my! and oh Wow!
We used to catch a ride into town when I was small
Maybe once a month, back then there was no mall
We'd buy a sack of flour maybe a pound of salt
A little coffee and sugar, round it off with a malt
At the local dime store a soda fountain it had
Oh, what a treat that was and it's really quite sad
Though not really the good old days all seem to spout
But it was a time of innocence let there be no doubt
You trusted your neighbors your friends with your life
Now the days are filled with stress and more strife
So what is the power fails for a few hours or days
And we have to do for ourselves, there are ways
To enjoy ourselves while we wait, then it's gone
It won't matter to me so much Y2K, bring it on
