Sunnie
(Honey)

My son and his love gave me a gift a while ago
Tears in my eyes, needed a hankie I had to blow
For they gave me a cute wiggley thing so sweet
She sits on my lap and she sleeps at my feet

Thought she was all mine till hubby walked in
What he did to her was really a shameful sin
He spoke sweet and low to the new little dog
He mesmerized her, she then became all agog

She wagged her tail and the rest followed suit
She was all aquiver she even licked his boot
And he has always been the one who said
No flea bag inside, I would rather be dead

If you could have seen him with her today
He's wrapped round her paw is all I can say
She makes a little sound and he wants to know
Are you hungry? Are you thirsty? Need to go?

Wish he'd pay that much mind to me and see
Just ask if I need anything I'd sit on his knee
But she is so sweet I can't really get upset
She cuddles, then gets close as she can get

The only thing I can find wrong with her
Hates to take a bath, the sweet little cur
Have scratches from one side to the other
Have to re-think this before I go any further

She has to stay clean so she can be inside
The smell of dog is one thing I can't abide
Especially since I just paid a king's ransom
For new carpet and boy it sure is handsome

She has a favorite toy she tosses around
She'll whack it and it makes the sound
Of a rooster crowing, and it crows thrice
She grips it with her teeth they're like a vice

Shakes it and growls she'll tear it to pieces
To be so small she sounds quite vicious
Eight pounds is about all that she'll weigh
I just love to watch her I watch her all day

Had errands to run, leave her we did dare
To take her with us it would not be fair
Only one store in town that she can enter
And that one is the local Petsmart center

By the time we got home she was really fretted
She barked and growled she had to be petted
Those soulful brown eyes at heart strings pulls
You can tell by now this roost she surely rules

When we got her they had called her Honey
I changed it to another and I call her Sunnie
Don't want to confuse hubby from his fog
He might come running when I call the dog
