Note: There are a number of genealogies which show Roric as the King of Denmark, while Auda is listed as the Queen of Holmgard. They are in error. Althought the ancestry of Roric is not currently known, he was from Holmgarth, Novgorod. This was in fact the seat of the Kingdom of Holmgard. However, Roric married the daughter of the King of Denmark, Ivar, and probably ruled as a King.
