Dear Parents,

	They say that all good things must come to an end …  and I 
guess it’s true, for this school year is just about over!  It is difficult to believe
 that this will be my last parent letter until Monday, August 27th , the first
 student school day for the 01-02 school year.    Elementary students in 
grades 1-5 will have EARLY DISMISSAL (after lunch at 1:40 PM) on the
 three last days of school - June 1, 4 and 5.   The last elementary student day
 is Tuesday, June 5.   (NOTE: this is a change from the printed District
 calendar)  
Special Kindergarten Schedule:   AM and PM Kindergarten will
 come for the entire school day of Friday, June 1 (from 9:15 AM
 - 1:40 PM).    AM Kindergarten schedule on June 4 and 5:  9:15
 AM (regular starting time) to 11:25 AM ( 40 minute early 
dismissal time).  PM Kindergarten schedule on June 4 and 5: 12:05 
PM (1 hour early starting time) to 1:40 (early dismissal time, same
 as grades 1-5).   

Don’t let the minds go on vacation!   I would continue to 
challenge you, as parents, to keep your children learning over the 
summer.  Encourage their participation in the many camping 
experiences available to them (church, sports, YMCA, etc.).  Assist 
your child in structuring/organizing their daily schedule to include a
 regular reading time.  Please help your child to
 place a limit on TV watching!   Summer is a 
wonderful time for kids to keep active 
AND learning.  I would encourage
 you to keep the dust and rust from forming in your child’s mind 
this summer!




On behalf of the Newville Elementary staff and students,  I 
would like to extend sincere thanks to the many, many PTO 
volunteers who gave of themselves during this past year.  Their 
involvement in the many activities throughout the year has helped
 make this 00-01 school year an especially successful one.  Parents 
of Newville students have a good reason to be proud of their school;
 great students and staff, and a wonderful core of dedicated parent 
volunteers.
