CAPS FOR KIDS

HOW CAPS FOR KIDS STARTED

In 1984, Bonnie Greene and Nancy La Framboise started Caps For Kids. Customers of their Yarn Country store donated 600 caps that year. In 1985 McCall's Needlework magazine featured an article about Caps For Kids and CFK received over 12,000 caps. In 1986 CFK became a national, non-profit foundation and distributed 24,000 caps. After that, the number of caps donated each year began to grow.

Between 1984 and 1996 over 1,000,000 caps plus other articles of crochet and knit clothing and toys have been donated to underprivileged children across the United States. Bonnie has since closed her store and she and Nancy have retired but Bonnie continues to volunteer her time and energy to run the Caps For Kids program.

Caps For Kids has no paid employees or rented office space.
